hiya all!

Hiya all:)!
here’s a few things that’s been happening:)
as you all know my daughter has graduated and will be attending university of hawaii manoa in august, it’s a great plan! as you all may think I am probably happy about it:)….. well I have become happy about it, I had prepped myself for her leaving so I felt a little confused and to you all, it didn’t matter, it doesn’t matter, all i want for her is to be happy. Geeez parenting is so challenging!!!!! and…….. the best thing that has ever happened to me!

so…..as you all know, ya guys who have been with me for awhile, my work life has been shaped around my daughter’s life. when she was a baby I only worked on the weekends of course we are talking 3:00a.m. till 6:00p.m. without fail but it was worth it! then she went to preschool half time and I only worked half a day and the other half, she was raised with you guys in my little shop, we scheduled around volleyball and now, I am not quite sure?, but we begin guys! we begin our new journey!

I have been re doing the web/blog (www.alisonhayashi.com), trying to bring in new items and offering more makeup classes. during the summer we taught kids to do their own makeup for dance performances and taught moms to do their dance daughter’s makeup so it’s not that bright blue craziness and their little ones looked cute and fresh in a “snap”…well sort of a snap, in april we also taught a few moms to do their daughter’s makeup for school functions and a few teens to do their own fresh, clean simple, makeup, ya know that came about because we would see girls with thick thick liner or too much makeup! yikes! a few of you have taken my regular classes and were going to change the way we have done it in the past for any newcomers. the lessons will be ala carte. some of the lessons will also include a few supplies, just ask and terry will give you the details:) I just share a carport kit with you guys. I recently bought one from them.

p.s. you have to have taken the basic daytime in order to take the other classes! no no not a sales ploy! it just doesn’t make sense if you don’t know the basics that I teach, which once you get it, is very simple, fast and classic.

basic daytime $170
refresher $85
highlighting/strobing $75
contouring $75
smokey eyes $75
natural asian – $75
focus on lips – $50
accenting with eyeshadow colors – $50
focus on lashes – $50
cat eyes – $50
just eyebrows – $50

we are also booking prom makeup and hair for 2016 already! 2 schools knew their dates for winter ball and prom!

don’t forget guys! I’m in a NEW LOCATION
some of you still don’t know I moved and showed up at kilohana square or gone to the 3rd floor of the young street building!. Eeeeek! so I’m at 1436 young street #102 first floor
it is about 1/4 the size of the original place and 1/2 of the size of the place upstairs from where I am now and that i was for about 3 months. I do love this place, there is parking right in front ( 6 stalls of free parking as you turn into the driveway to the right) and also street parking if you have a hard time turning around in the parking lot when you’re leaving, and for the most part it’s pretty quiet:) I think the only time it gets a little busy is when the Japanese restaurant next door has lunch, the busy times are Sunday’s 11:30-2:00 and lunchtime weekdays 11:30-1:00 except monday because they’re closed:) which……..
on SEPTEMBER 7 labor day please RSVP to our Iichiko Time from 2-8p.m
~ IICHIKO is shochu. Iichiko from my understanding is a combination of select barley and spring water collected from 300 meters underground that is carefully, artfully and scientifically
made into a fine smooth refreshing drink!and we are honored to have a mini tasting event at my shop of their bar fruits YUZU and UME which are new additions to the Iichiko family.
There will be top Iichiko experts there to answer all your questions!!!!

~ I will be offering “happy brows” that day for a happier $25 !!!! and free FOUNDATION

~ very very talented DARIN MIYASHIRO ACCOMPLISHED koto teacher and performer will be
filling the air with his amazingly hypnotic and beautiful sounds of the koto. For those of you
that are looking for a talent that not too many people know or have, you can sign up for
koto classes with Darin! I did and I love it!

~bee keeper titus will have his fresh made honey to sample and to purchase:)!
I like honey and I have tasted quite a bit of different kinds of honey! This honey is
very mild and tastes happy! really! it tastes like happy bees are making it!
I had some just about an hour ago on my yogurt! The consistency is different! It’s
rich but light? ya gotta try it yourself!

~ pastry girl linda muromoto will be making some sweets to sample!!!! when put her in the spot when she brought her yummy samples , I think I asked her to tell us about her baking, all I know is that the the response that stood out was……”I make it with LOVE”!!!!! yay!

Did I ever tell you about the time……..
I went to a restaurant and I wasn’t thrilled with my food, so I kinda left a lot of it on my plate. The waiter asked if something was wrong with the food. my daughter cringing on the side as I said , hmmmm“tastes like the chef is mad at his other half……the waiter replied, “wow!!!!! you’re good!” and we had free desserts and I didn’t have to pay for my entree.
moral of the story: don’t make mahimahi into flounder just because you’re mad at someone…..hahaha
no, the moral of the story is that we are so energetically charged and connected that what we think and feel is translated and absorbed by everything we touch, so to make or do anything with care and love, is felt at levels we don’t even realize!basically just make stuff with good energy cause people feel it whether they know or not!!!!!!

so oddly I have found the closing in this long newsletter/blog.
each topic listed had something to do with the moral of the story!
koto music

_MG_9999 - Version 2
what year it’s been.
first of all i would like to thank all of you wonderful women…and men for all your love and patience., it was quite a challenging year in 2013 and 2014 has been better, but i press on with finishing the things that were going on in 2013.
I have to say that faith, trust and meditating daily was a source
so many ask about this silly blog that i write and i finally today have some time to share.
volleyball….. yup we are still in it! if some of you don’t know this and would like their daughter’s to play volleyball…..wonderful sport! the girls are awesome! the teams we were in had no drama, these girls become lifelong friends!
only thing…..tournaments!!!!! it’s all day and you never know when, where and what time til a few days and i mean a few days before. so thank you thank you thank you for all of you who have been allowing me to reschedule your days because of volleyball!
2015 is coming up and dakota will be graduating so in 2016 there won’t be volleyball unless she gets a division 3 scholarship for volleyball! hahahaha! anyway, many of you ask me about where she will be going. don’t know. she really has only begun. so ask me and i will have no answers, but i appreciate any advice:) college and graduation tips.i hear moms and daughters fight a lot that senior year! yikes that would be so sad! hope that doesn’t happen! but anyway, thank you so much for all your support and understanding and patience! i truly appreciate it!

so guys i know ur kids are also graduating next year and they do those eeeeaaarrrly grad pics during the summer.i have been getting requests already and its a busy summer and not that you’d use me, although if u would like to, im setting up days since we will be gone for my daughters volleyball for about a week in june when these photos begin to happen
im going to do a special price, $100 for makeup and hair for any of you who received this email.
i ask the same things….
clean DRY hair and
clothes that are easily changed out of.

everyone always asks me about it!
so i have decided to do a meditation class

life is great isn’t it!
hey guys!!!! happy new year!!!!!
thank you for all your shares, laughter and tears.
just a short story showing that in all of life
there is balance and beauty!!!!
do any of you remember my story about
waiting in line for the custard pies in chinatown?
this is a similar story that makes me thankful.
I told my daughter with a few tears in my eyes that
the amazing things that happened year filled me.
it just filled me.
some things happened out adversity, some did not,
but they situations were beautiful and unique to me.

here is one of them….
so my daughter and I had to wait in line out at kapolei DMV
during the Christmas break to take her drivers license
test. we left our house at 4:30 and got to the DMV
around 5:00a.m. , I thought to myself as I was
looking for parking “are these people homeless or
are they waiting in line too”?! serious there were 6
chairs set up and 1 guy in his chair, sleeping. well!
dang it if I didn’t look homeless too as I set my chair
up, put on my fluffy bathrobe and covered up with a blanket
in the darkness. just the guy and me in the cold while
everyone else found warmth in their cars, I thought that was
kinda unfair to just set up the chair in place of your body,
that’s why I suffered in the cold. when does this get good????
it gets good a couple of times. like now. I’m looking into the
nothingness and just contemplating life….. no serious I was,
for some reason I decided to look up and behind my head
and my daughter says “sure mom” but I saw a owl flying.
really, how many large birds fly in the dark? so it was amazing
to me, and no, the other guy was sleeping so he didn’t see it.
so then, the picture you see below is the next good, great,
wonderful amazing thing. the sunrise….. it was beautiful.
well then the next thing, others started to line up and conversation
with strangers whom ended up being a part of a wonderful day!
a Filipino man waiting for the same thing as us, he was there at 12:00a.m.!?he looked scary in the dark but i later found ou that he was a little nice filipino man.
a guy that was moving to maui, he had to get a car registration, put it
on a car that was getting shipped to Maui and get on a plane, all by 11:00a.m…. i wondered if that was all going to work out for him, he was a tall dude with a low voice, he wasn’t scary just nice.
and a boy from new york, just moved here and had failed the test a week ago, he was still there after we left at 12:00! he was a young buck, hahaha!
so after meeting them all, my daughter took the test and passed!! yay! but the
fun doesn’t end there. we get back to the car and there’s a note on the car.
it says someone hit my car and left. I looked and sure enough. i called the
number the person left and she gave a description of the car and the 2 people
in the car, she told me to check the parking lot to see if they had re-parked,
sure enough it was there, in one of the “drivers test” parking spaces! I went up to the offices
and they said they couldn’t really do anything and to make a police report, but as I was walking
back to the car I looked back and a girl was walking down with the dmv examiner and she fit
the description the woman gave me, she walked to her car and approached her.
she didn’t deny it and I did have to call the police to make a report for the insurance,
everything worked out and the BEAUTY in all of that was that the person who took the time to take down the information! wow! And the TIMING!
well we went to shiros for lunch and as we drove home I had tears in my eyes again
maybe because I was tired and a bit emotional, but I truly was thankful for an awesome
day that filled my heart with proof that people do care about each other, although there was one person who didn’t have any regard for someone else, there were others that outweighed that one. those people we had conversation with,
happy new year everyone one!!!!
and if you remember the custard pie story, you would know, that i should wait in long lines all the time!
heres a few pics of our year.

almost 2013

so guys, it’s almost going to be 2013.
Thank you for all your patience and understanding with all of the reschedules! i’m still working on trying to find the best way for all of us, but it’s a work in progress, i hope you all can stick it out with me until my daughter is out of high school and volleyball, after that i will be begging you to come in every week to fill my time up since i will be LONELY!!!!!! nah! i will probably find some other mindless thing to learn and if you know me well you know that’s true.

hi guys! so my daughter is 16!!!! isn’t it amazingly fast!
remember her taking naps in the back of my shop? i even did a miss hawaii’s makeup with her in my
baby bjorn front pack.

anyway she asked to see the sunrise with her friends for her birthday and although it was sort
of painful to get up so early it was an amazingly beautiful morning, day and night!
parents….. people say this all the time, but really enjoy the time with your kids because i can still feel my daughter’s little body in my arms holding on to her and she holding on to me. but now we’re approaching the time when she can drive and do all those scary adult things! eeeeeek! i look back and i love the time i spent with that little ball of energy, no regrets!!!!!

so enough of that emotional stufff!!!!on to the shop….. first of all is a product note: one of you bought a brown eye pencil, i’m so glad you told me it was hard to apply, because it’s supposed to glide on pretty easily.
i tested it and it was HARD! so if any of you got a eye pencil and it was hard! please let me know, bring it in and i can give you a new one.
the last appointment before christmas will be december 17th,i am taking time off from december 17 (im only doing scheduled weddings) to spend time with Dakota and to escape the parking madness in kilohana square.
speaking of parking, it hasn’t been as bad lately since ive been scheduling you all around the crazy time.
so……..i am sending this early holiday email out to help us prep for the holidays. please let me know if I can put anthing on hold for you to be picked up before the 17th
if you need foundation, powder or any other makeup, the last day is the 17th.
i will be turning off my phone after the 17th til i come back, nah! not that it makes a difference since i don’t answer the phone anyway! that’s what you guys tease me about all the time! no really though i can’t answer since i am usually mowing down all of your eyebrows! hahahaha!
congratulations to my recent makeup lesson graduates! great job!
corinne, eileen, colleen…..no no you don’t have to end in the “eeeeen” sound to take the class. hahaha
also sisters junko and ayako, erin, pam, patsy and sharry.

flying gnocchi

okay, this a terrible photo retouching job! but isn’t gnocchi cute! she’s flying through the house with her tissue paper cape!!!! hahahaha!
Making food in your ricepot.
Alright so between doing appointments and getting Dakota from school and to volleyball and having a small personal life ( yeah right) somewhere I have to cook. Well I have had a small hotplate, pans and dishes to cook in my toaster, but I have to say the the RICEPOT is one of the best cooking tools ever!!!!!! You can cook food and warm up food, it’s only just a little slower than a microwave
a few things I’ve made
chicken soup
~threw chicken breast tenders in with vegetable broth and short spaghetti noodles
mushroom chicken w brocolli
~a can of cream of mushroom soup, chicken breast tenders and frozen broccoli
sort of spaghetti meatballs
~tray of ground beef made into balls, spaghetti sauce and rigatoni noodles

here’s your chance I realllllllly want you guys to have a back up bottle of foundation.

comn in and make sure you preorder or tell me you’re coming in that day.

now….here’s my latest story.
we went to JJ Dolan’s for pizza,(which by the way is realllllly good) with dakota’s friend and her mom, it was my idea since dakota’s friend is always so nice and let’s her borrow lunch money since dakota’s mom is such a good mom and forgets to give her money! anyway.
pizza was great as usual and company as well. we sat there enjoying and talking, talking and enjoying, i had parked in the lot diagonal from JJ dolans, it’s expensive like heck, but i went around a couple of times and really couldn’t find any parking.well i ended up going out there to put in another $4-5 since my first hour had passed, all is well as we still talk and enjoy, enjoy and talk, then it dawn on me, yikes!!!!! i’m over the time limit again, by this time it’s close to 10:00p.m. and we better leave any way. bye, bye, hug hug…….o.k.? where is my car? did someone steal it? did i really park it here? yup…. it was towed!!!!
o.k o.k. i was about 30 minutes over the time limit, but geeez! so this story gets worse.
i call the other mom, “hey, they towed my car, could we catch a ride?” of course, she’s in shock, but she was so nice, she was very defensive for me and was i think more upset then i was.
well we get there on sand island access road #2. you know it’s bad when it’s not just sand island access road, it’s sand island access road #2. we proceed to the guard gate, where…ONLY ONE PERSON CAN GO PAST THIS POINT ON THIER GOLF CART IN THE DARK, YUP, NO STREET LIGHTS, IN GHETTO LAND, ONE COULD DISSAPEAR HERE AND NEVER BE FOUND, YEAH, CAUSE THEY HAVE YOUR CAR, WHO KNOWS THAT THOUGH! WHO KNOWS IF THEY REALLY HAVE YOUR CAR! well dakota’s friends mom was not going for that at all, she asks to follow, they hesitate and say it’s o.k., which by the way i spoke to another girl just today, young girl, in her 20’s she knew exactly what i was talking about and they would not allow her boyfriend to come or follow and she had to be the one not him becasue she was the registered owner. WELL THIS IS GETTING TO BE A LONG STORY RIGHT? BUT ANYONE WHO HAS A YOUNG ADULT SHOULD CONTINUE TO READ!!!!!!! we go right, left, right right and left in the DARKNESS behind some large shipping containers ad finally end up at a small lot of fenced in cars, still no lights, i have to sign the towing guy’s paper in the light of his truck. There isn’t even a office, this is worse than what you see in the movies! I ask to check out the car before signing, I forgot my flashlight!!!! dang! of all days!!!, well he says i’ll turn on the lights, the light is shining towards the back of the squished in cars from the far corner. it starts to rain as i tell him i really can’t tell if there is any damage, it’s just too dark, at this point i just want to get out of there which i would guess a lot of people feel. i sign, pay my $145 and we leave in the darkness, we ask him to lead us out, and he reluctantly “sort of” does. It was an eye opening experience. Please tell your kids, don’t be afraid to call you if they get towed, it is SOOOOOOOOO DANGEROUS!!!! Whatever you see in the movies, it’s 100 time worse than that.

well time is going along so fast it’s hard to believe!
~first let me tell you the trama i had,……. whew!
gnocchi and i were in the yard and she was playing around, i saw her scratching in the
dirt and so i went to look, she was playing with a bee! well the bee had no stinger and there
it was above her lip. i got in the car and took her to the vet 5 minutes away, she seemed perfectly fine, but off we went. she was excited to see the other dogs at the vet and she
was wagging her tail, we got in the examination room and all of a sudden she started unusually
quiet, by the time dr. shoji came in which wasn’t that long, she couldn’t stand up and just lay on the
table closing her eyes, he checked her heart and it was down to 70bpm, o.k. we’re still really
sad about miso and this is the same doctor, he knows and he looks worried. well gnocchi is fine after having an epinephrine shot, cortisone and antihistimine and about 8 hours later. but……..thank you jan! if one of you had not shared your experience you had with your doggie going into shock, i would have never thought to take gnocchi in to see the vet. THANK YOU!!!! but i am sharing especially since a lot of you have doggies too!!!
Gnocchi lost her hair on her back, it just started to fall out and then regrew to a shiny balck patch that kinda looks like wings, or a heart, awwwwww. So…….. I did not dye her hair!
Gosh you guys!
Gnocchi is her playful self ,loving her pbutter and looking curly as ever.

~for those of you who were waiting for my schedule, i can now book through the year
~sorry guys, i’m trying to keep the cost down, but the foundation is $29 now, $1 more than…….
a lonnnnnggggg time ago:) hehehe

♥love, dakota (;

here’s a pic of dakota flipping the coin, wow! she looks like a vball player!
actually i’m really proud of her, she’s made a lot of progress! go dakota!

so gnocchi has come a long way in mellowing out, except for days like this!
that’s a toilet paper roll that she destroyed while i went outside to dump the garbage

hey guys, see a similarity between the two pictures??? both look like bugs right?
well the green one is a bug that i found that i thought looked interesting, the other picture is NOT a bug, it’s mascara and lashes that i scraped off one of your eyelash curlers during a refresher makeup lesson! eeeeeeeekkkkkkk! guys!

Jacee & Micah from Video 21 Productions on Vimeo.

recent wedding video of you guys getting married!!!!! love the japanese style!!!!!
k guys
we were suposed to go to japan 6 days before the earthquake and tsunami, i am thankful that we were not there when it happened and i think about it daily. many of us love japan, and i know you feel the same when i say my heart is so sad for the losses of the people. i continue to feel such heartfelt stories though, it is truly amazing, some indirect, some from you guys and some from past clients that are living there, i keep hearing that there is a connection between the people, that they are caring for each other, it is amazing.
all the reservations made were refunded completely, with sincere notes attached back with the confirmations from japan, japanican (ryokan in yamagata, right next to sendai), park hotel tokyo ,
global advance communications ( mifi or wifi rental in japan) along with american company
american express travel( another hotel) and last but not least hawaiian airlines who at first i was a little questionable, but in the end they came through! yeah hawaiian airlines!

Yeah as you can see I wrote these awhile ago, but never posted them

dakota makes the intermediate volleyball team yeah!

when she called to let me know, i had tears in my eyes, she worked so hard !

gnocchi wears our new mineral blush “marvelous”

until forever

until forever….

yes as most of you know my miso chan will be meeting me in another life. it’s been a learning experience in so many ways. thank you for all the love she enjoyed it! . i know now she’s happy running around with my dad. hopefully she can help me to guide this “very different” puppy, “gnocchi”. yes she is a potato pasta, pronounced “nyokki. sorry in advance for her sometimes crazy behavior. she likes people, but other dogs…..sorry in advance again, the other day all i heard was a growl and then scared dog parents looking for damage to their doggies tail , a week before that she jumped on top of one of your dog carriers, with the dog in it!!!  i will try to get her socialized, somebody said she gotta be put in her place….yikes! for now, best to keep your doggies safe from the beast. i did set up play area outside, but i wonder when that’s ever going to be used!

miso never smelled (gnocchi smells about an hour after her bath, i’m serious) her ears always stayed clean(gnocchi’s ears are dirt magnets), she stopped barking when i said stop(gnocchi looks at me and says to herself what the heck!),  miso wouldn’t bark if she heard the next door neighbor’s dog barking (gnocchi barks when i burp), she would get up only when i did (gnocchi could care less if i’m up and sometimes if she’s up before me she makes it known), miso was free to roam the house all day all night with no problem ever(gnocchi may never make it out of the kitchen). she’d smell flowers (gnocchi eats them) miso knew when i was going home and would be ready to go as soon as i was ready ( i have to capture gnocchi) oops miso made a little fart (we have to evacuate when gnoochi decides to let it out and that is everyday at least once or twice) miso’s little doo doo’s could be flushed (gnocchi uses the entire paper and then some, i think there is more doo doo than food that i fed her)! not to compare, but there is no comparison. miso was not a dog, but i love our new DOG gnocchi.

here is a photo of the “beast” yeah, really don’t let her looks fool you. and yes, she really is a poodle, not a mix, just poodle. oh yes and those of you who came when her name was poha, we changed her name, it’s no wonder she’s confused!

the beast
